Apply for the Science Communication Mentoring Programme!

If you are studying in a STEM field, want to learn how to present your scientific work in a way that is clear and inspiring to others, wish to gain confidence in public speaking, communicate more effectively, and focus on your personal development and career at the same time, then the STREAM IT project’s 40 hours Science Communication Mentoring Programme is made for you!

The programme offers a unique opportunity to:

  • learn how to engage both professional and general audiences,
  • practice effective strategies to present your scientific work,
  • communicate with impact in both your native language and English,
  • expand your network within academia and beyond,
  • build self-awareness and confidence,
  • take part in a national and an international science communication competition held in Budapest, Hungary (June 2026).

The programme is personalised and flexible, shaped by the goals of both the mentor and the mentee.

Who can apply?

  • BSc, MSc and PhD students who are curious, open-minded, and eager to grow as science communicators.
  • The upper age limit for applicants is 40, but for those returning from parental leave, the age limit can be extended by the duration of their leave.

The programme will take place across all participating countries between October 2025 and April 2026. Each country will feature its own schedule of events and activities during this period, including the Bootcamp and the National Science Communication Competition, which will be held in every country. Active participation in both the Bootcamp and the National Science Communication Competition is essential for all mentees. In addition, regular collaboration with their assigned mentors throughout the program is a key part of the experience, ensuring continuous learning, growth, and the successful completion of the programme.

Bulgaria - Regional Agency for Entrepreneurship and Innovations

Croatia - Technology Park Varazdin

Technology Park Varaždin is a business incubator and tech center in northern Croatia that supports innovative company growth through workspaces, expert advice, and networking. The Park is heavily involved in non-formal STEM education, using its infrastructure to develop and implement gender-inclusive tools and hands-on activities to empower young girls and university students.

Ukraine - Bureau of Research, Innovation and Technology

NGO “BRIT” was founded by scientists to promote civil society and unlock the region’s scientific and innovative potential, focusing on sustainable development through innovation. BRIT supports the project by promoting STEM education among girls through targeted workshops, mentoring, and creating National Inspiration Hubs for educators.

Slovakia - ADDSEN

ADDSSEN, a Bratislava-based management company, empowers scientific teams and businesses by improving university processes, technology transfer, and internationalisation. Involved in projects promoting women in science, ADDSSEN will contribute to STREAM IT by fostering cooperation between companies and universities. They will organise hands-on events and provide tools for talent development and knowledge sharing within the STEM community.

Spain - Universidad de Burgos

The University of Burgos (UBU) is a public institution with a strong research focus and diverse faculties, including a recognised Education Faculty. UBU partners with the City Hall to operate “La Estación de la Ciencia y la Tecnología,” a community training center for STEAM disciplines. As a member of the STREAM IT team, UBU will review initiatives to reduce the gender gap in these fields and contribute to designing and developing new activities and programs at the center to address this gap.

Macedonia - Foundation for Management and Industrial Research Skopje

The Foundation for Management and Industrial Research (MIR), drives sustainable economic growth that benefits all. For the project, MIR will research institutional barriers in STEM education to inform the “European Manifesto for gender-inclusive STE(A)M education.” MIR will also contribute to workshops, mentoring, and the Virtual Makespace to encourage girls’ success in STEM.

Sweden - Wonderfund AB

Wonderfund AB, a non-profit founded in 2016, is dedicated to building a fair and equal tech industry by empowering women and non-binary individuals through education, community building, and advocacy. In the STREAM IT project, Wonderfund AB will organise inclusive Talent Nurturing Workshops with hands-on activities at science centers and run Mentoring Programs to support young girls pursuing STEM education and careers.

Hungary - Nők a Tudományban Egyesület

NaTE ‘s main goal is to increase the number of young girls choosing STEM professions by showcasing female role models, offering mentoring, and hosting after-school sessions. With over ten years of experience supporting thousands of young people, NaTE contributes its expertise to STREAM IT by participating in co-creational workshops and leading the development of mentoring sessions based on its successful previous programs.

Serbia - Association of Business Women in Serbia

Association of Business Women in Serbia (ABW), the largest national organisation for female entrepreneurs, promotes social and economic development through business support, advocacy, and global networking. For the STREAM IT project, ABW develops innovative programs, mentorships, and training to empower the next generation of female STEM professionals in a gender-inclusive environment.

Lituania - Sunrise Tech Park

Sunrise Tech Park supports innovation by fostering entrepreneurship, cleantech, and digitalisation through its pre-accelerator programs and managing the Cleantech Cluster. It contributes to STREAM IT by using its platform to boost girls’ participation in STEAM and deep-tech startups, creating toolkits, and promoting diverse role models.
